- Sheep can be infected by liver fluke, which is a parasite that lays its eggs in the liver of sheep (and other animals). Liver fluke can cause low productivity and death in 8 — 10 weeks. Sheep are given a drench (medicine) using a drench gun to squirt the medicine into the back of the throat.
